EPL Picks and Predictions July 14 2020 – July 17 2020

Let’s get right into this!

Premier League Picks and Predictions for July 14-July 17:

It’s bum-picking time! Or something with bums.  It’s an English saying, so generally pure nonsense.  Squeaky bum?  I’m sticking with bum-picking.  Some spicy, intriguing match-ups and more than a few “oh my God, nobody cares about you” matches.

Tuesday, July 14: Chelsea v. Norwich, NBCSN, 3:15 p.m. ET

Yikes! After winning two matches in a row and feeling excited about Christian Pulisic’s emergence as a potential star, Chelsea came crashing to earth with a 3-0 loss to Sheffield United. Bit of a humbler. Equally as damaging to Chelsea’s Champions League hopes was ManCity’s successful appeal of its European ban. With ManU and Leicester just a point back, a match against cellar-dwelling Norwich City comes just in time. At -770, you’re not getting a great payout, but as a safe(ish) place to park some shekels, this match seems like a perfunctory win by a better team.

Wednesday, July 15: Burnley v. Wolves, 1 p.m. ET, Peacock

At this point in the season, we get a lot of matches that feature either two teams with nothing to play for or one that does and another that doesn’t. I tend to stay away from the “who cares?” matches. Burnley will (probably) be neither relegated nor eligible for European competition, but Wolverhampton should make it to Europe so long as they don’t stumble. That said, a team needing a win doesn’t necessarily make it a good bet, historically speaking. I pick Burnley, but don’t love the bet.

Pick: BURNLEY WIN (-114)

Wednesday, July 15: Man City v. Bournemouth, 1 p.m. ET, Peacock

Not a ton to say here. ManCity has been waxing chumps lately, and this sure seems like a foregone conclusion. But at -850, you sure aren’t getting much here. If you’ve got ducats to unload, try a parlay with Chelsea and Liverpool just to have some fun.

Wednesday, July 15: Newcastle v. Tottenham, 1 p.m. ET, Peacock

Don’t let Tottenham’s win versus Arsenal fool you: this team has looked miserable lately. While, gun to head, I don’t think Tottenham loses this match, this is a classic trap game after a big win. I really like a win-draw bet for Newcastle here. At +350, I see Newcastle as good value, but let’s play it a little safer.

Pick: DRAW (+275)

Wednesday, July 15: Arsenal v. Liverpool, 3:15 p.m. ET, Peacock

Oh, Arsenal… what are you? If Liverpool cares, they’ll score as many goals as they want to. My guess is that the crest on Arsenal’s chest somehow still makes Liverpool feel like it’s a game where they should set their effort meter at 5-out-of-10. That’s enough for a walkover win against a truly broken team with a horror-show backline. Despite concerns over motivation and a ho-hum value, I really like this pick.

Pick: LIVERPOOL WIN (-120)

Thursday, July 16: Everton v. Aston Villa, 1 p.m. ET, Gold/Peacock

Game doesn’t matter to Everton and Aston Villa desperately need some points to get out of relegation… but they’re in relegation spots for a reason.
Pick: EVERTON WIN (+105)

Thursday, July 16: Leicester v Sheffield United, 1 p.m. ET, NBCSN

Okay, this one is juicy, right? Leicester need points to stay in the top-4, Sheffield might need points to stay in Europa. Leicester is the favorite (+100), but I really like Sheffield here. They’ve looked better than Leicester since coming back, and at (+275) to win, I’ll put a few bucks on them.

Pick: Sheffield United (+275)

Thursday, July 16: Crystal Palace v. Man United, 3:15 p.m. ET, NBCSN

ManUtd have it all to play for. This team can lay some eggs, but I still like them here to win. I wouldn’t put too much money on it, though.

Pick: ManU Win (-300)

Thursday, July 16: Southampton v. Brighton, 3:15 p.m. ET, Gold/Peacock

Oh, hey… these teams exist.

Pick: DRAW (+120)

Friday, July 17: West Ham v. Watford, 3 p.m. ET, NBCSN

Oh hey… these teams also exist… okay great.

Pick: DRAW (+200)
